Shimboni Africa is a Tanzanian owned and operated tour company based in the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania. We have a love of our country and a passion for showing our honored guests the wonders of Tanzania. From Mt Kilimanjaro treks, Wildlife safaris to destinations including Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, to cultural tours visiting some of the 120 tribes of Tanzania such as the Maasai, Hadzabe, and Chagga tribes. The beaches and culture of exotic and beautiful Zanzibar also are not to be missed. We can customize any private itinerary according to your interests, available time, and budget. Treat what is found in this website as a starting point and through dialog we will create the best trip for you. We are a quality first company, we look at what we can do to provide the best experience for our clients and then let the prices be whatever they must be. Because of this, we won't be the least expensive company. But because we are locally owned and operated we will be far from being the most expensive company.
We thank you for taking the first step to a wonderful adventure by visiting our website. We look forward to the opportunity to work for you. Feel free to contact us with any questions. You do not have to have all the details in place (dates, number of people, etc) before we communicate.
All prices listed in the website are in USD (United States Dollars) and our company bank account is a USD account. We accept advance payments through direct wire transfers (bank to bank) or by online visa/mastercard payment. There is not time a restriction for making your initial deposit however, your accommodations/trip date will not be reserved until a payment has been received. Deposit amounts requested are 10% for basic camping safaris or Mt.Kilimanjaro/Mt. Meru treks, 50% for lodge/tented camp safaris, and 100% of any flight costs that we book (such as fly-in safaris or Zanzibar).
Especially in today's world, trips can be difficult to plan. Sometimes things arise that require you to cancel/postpone your trip. Shimboni Africa is not looking to make a profit off of cancellations. However, we cannot afford to take a loss either. If you need to postpone a trip, we will apply 100% of the recoverable deposit towards your new trip date within a 24 month limit. By recoverable deposit we mean that if we have paid for safari lodge accommodations, flight, or other 3rd party payments and their cancellation policy does not allow a full refund, we must deduct that amount from the deposited amount. If you need to cancel a trip entirely, we will refund any recoverable amount less 10% to cover our expenses. If payment was made by bank card, we may be able to reverse the transaction. Otherwise refunds will be done by bank-to-bank direct wire transfer. Wire transfer fees (typically $50 from Tanzania) will need to be deducted from the refund amount. You are welcome to transfer your deposit over to another person if you prefer.
Regarding the case where some members in your group are not able to participate, the price of the itinerary for all participants would be recalculated according to the new group size. As an example, a Kilimanjaro trek using Machame Route 7 Days itinerary costs $2010/person based on 4 participants. If two participants cancel before the start of the trip, then the remaining two would pay $2135/person (the cost of Machame 7 Days trek for 2 people).
